Reducing Transportation
Costs and Providing Storage Solutions on Offshore Platforms
The high cost of transporting tools, replacement valves, gauges and
other spare parts from onshore locations to offshore platforms has been
a significant line item in the budgets of producers and production companies
worldwide. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent flying or shipping
these items to platforms at premium rates. Once arrived, storage has been
relegated to used metal shipping containers.
The lack of and need for a secure, sealed and ventilated, affordable
facility in which replacement parts and tools may be stored for future
use, along with lighting and a workbench on which production personnel
may work, has been unavailable.
Edwards Fabrication, LLC, one of the Gulf of Mexico's leading on and
offshore metal fabrication providers for over thirty years, has designed
several standard offshore metal buildings to withstand the harsh climatic
conditions at sea.
